Planning Your Course
Before touching WordPress, map out your course structure. Define the transformation your students will experience, then break that down into modules and lessons.
A good rule of thumb: each lesson should cover one concept and be completable in under 20 minutes.
Building the Course in SmartMembers
Navigate to SmartMembers → Courses and click Add New. Enter your course title and description, then start adding modules. Within each module you can add lessons — video, text, quiz, or a combination.
Upload videos directly or embed from YouTube, Vimeo, or any other provider. SmartMembers doesn’t limit storage or bandwidth.
Setting Prerequisites and Drip Schedules
Drip content releases lessons on a schedule after a student enrolls. This keeps students progressing at a healthy pace and reduces overwhelm.
Prerequisites let you require completion of one lesson before the next unlocks. Both features are configured per-lesson with no coding required.
Pricing Your Course
You have several options: one-time purchase, payment plan, or include the course as part of a membership. Many creators offer all three and let students choose.
Launching
Before launch, test the entire student experience yourself. Enroll with a test account, watch lessons, complete quizzes, and verify certificates generate correctly.
When you’re ready, announce to your email list and social channels. SmartMembers’ affiliate program lets past students earn a commission for referrals automatically.
